Violin, Viola, & Piano Lessons with Clare L.
Clare is a violin teacher and musician based in Seattle, WA. Her interest in music began early on and originally started on the piano at age 8. She received a BA in Music Composition from Seattle Pacific University where she studied violin with Ilka Talvi, former concertmaster of the Seattle Symphony. She studied music composition with Dr. Stephen Newby. Since graduating she has taught the violin to young students both in person and virtually.
Having learned from the Suzuki method herself, she typically uses this method to in the beginning stages for her students. However, she takes her student’s interest into consideration for supplemental materials, and uses different beginning methods when applicable. Clare makes an effort to also highlight composers not from the typical Western classical repertoire, opening students up to works they might not otherwise hear, play, or study.
