About Lessons in Your Home
with City Strings & Piano
After years of teaching at traditional music academies, we were inspired to provide a more convenient opportunity for our students. We started with one goal in mind: provide the highest quality music lessons, and soon found wonderful partners across the country to do the same. We truly believe in the power of music education, and we strive to make that process as simple and convenient as possible.
Soon after our start as a small violin studio, we expanded to include piano and cello lessons. The demand was so great that we knew there was a need for top notch, in-home lessons across the country. We are proud to be collaborating with a group of fantastic professionals across the country. Each of our Local Directors are accomplished musicians and teachers who share our vision of simple, high quality music lessons. They are ready to pair you with the perfect teacher for you to start great lessons in your home.
How it Works
Our experienced teachers come to your home once a week to provide individualized instruction based on your child’s unique needs and goals. Lessons in the home provide a comfortable and relaxed environment conducive to optimal learning and allow your child to excel without missing a beat. With experienced teachers, frequent recitals, optional group classes and instrument rental, we bring the complete music academy experience directly to your doorstep.
Signing up is easy! Just contact your local director via email or phone. You can find their contact information on the city page or contact page. He or she will help match you with a teacher based on your location, schedule requests and pedagogical goals. You fill out one form, sign up for a recurring tuition payment plan and you're all set! Monthly tuition includes 44 lessons per year and we offer several recital opportunities to celebrate your progress. Suzuki group classes and instrument rentals are also available upon request.
Our instructors are certified in a variety of pedagogical methods including Suzuki and Faber, and work with you to decide what is best for your child’s progress. Many families choose the Suzuki method, known for teaching very young children in the same manner they learned their first language. Adults and students 10 years and up often choose traditional methods that focus on note reading skills.
Because every student is unique, we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to teaching. Some students learn best by ear, while others prefer reading music. Some people have hours to practice every single day, while others can only spare a few minutes twice a week. Some students are very serious and hope to become professional musicians, while others just want to have fun or learn something new. At City Strings & Piano, our goal is to provide the best experience for your unique situation.
Quality instruments are imperative for musical success, and because this is so important, we take the hassle and guesswork out of instrument selection. Our personalized rental program provides everything your child needs for successful study. Students require a variety of instrument sizes over their years of study, and we personally ensure that they have the perfect size at all times. Instruments occasionally require maintenance that would normally entail a trip to the music store. Our teachers are able to solve such issues in the convenience of your home, ensuring that your child always has the proper equipment.
