Piano Lessons with Paige W.

Paige is a pianist and experienced teacher who works with students ages 4 and up, from complete beginners through advanced players. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Western Washington University, where she graduated magna cum laude, and has more than eight years of piano teaching experience.

Paige’s teaching style is calm, patient, and flexible. She believes that strong fundamentals— including technique, note reading, rhythm, and music theory—are important, but that students learn best when lessons are also engaging and connected to the music they enjoy. She teaches both classical and popular music and adapts lessons to each student’s interests, goals, and learning style. For younger students, she often uses the Faber Piano Adventures curriculum, while adult beginners may work from the Alfred Adult Piano Course alongside music chosen specifically for them.

In addition to teaching, Paige has extensive experience as a collaborative pianist. She has accompanied choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists in rehearsals, recitals, auditions, competitions, and other performances. This work has given her experience with a wide range of musical styles, including classical music, jazz, musical theater, and contemporary repertoire. She also has experience playing percussion, guitar, and ukulele.

Paige especially enjoys helping students become comfortable and confident at the piano. Early lessons focus on practical skills such as posture, hand position, finger numbers, and understanding how the instrument works, while also giving students an opportunity to begin playing music they recognize and enjoy. As students progress, Paige knows when to provide encouragement and when to challenge them to take the next step in their playing.
