Piano Lessons with Elyssa L.

Elyssa is a classically trained pianist and operatic vocalist with a deep appreciation for musical theater, contemporary music, and the many ways music connects people. A recipient of the prestigious Presidential Scholarship from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, she brings a strong foundation in classical technique alongside extensive performance experience in Las Vegas, Boston, and California. She is excited to bring her musical background, experience, and passion for teaching to students in Washington.

While her formal training is rooted in classical piano and opera, Elyssa’s musical interests extend far beyond the traditional repertoire. From Broadway favorites to contemporary pop and rock, she enjoys exploring a wide variety of styles and helping students discover the music that inspires them.

At the heart of Elyssa’s teaching philosophy is the belief that no two students learn the same way. She approaches each student as an individual, adapting her teaching methods to their unique strengths, interests, learning styles, and goals. Whether working with a young beginner, an aspiring performer, or an adult rediscovering a love of music, she strives to create an encouraging environment where students feel both supported and challenged.

For Elyssa, the greatest reward of teaching is helping students develop not only their technical abilities, but also the confidence, creativity, and independence to make music their own.
