Violin & Piano Lessons with Jan P.
A native of the Czech Republic, Jan P. became the Artistic Director of North Idaho Philharmonia in 2021. Previously, Jan was Music Director of the Coeur d'Alene Symphony and the Lexington Chamber Orchestra in the United States and has worked with more than 30 professional orchestras across the world, including the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra, North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra, Talich Chamber Orchestra, Pavel Haas Chamber Orchestra, Astana Philharmonia, Vidin Symphony Orchestra, Ghana National Symphony Orchestra, Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic, Pittsburgh Bethel Park Orchestra, Orchestra Enigmatic Louisville as well as orchestras in Thailand, Japan and China. He has led performances with the Pilsen Opera and the University of Kentucky Opera Theater, and led the Prague Karlin Theater on an eleven-city tour of Romania in 2007. Jan studied at the Prague Conservatory, and he holds degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and University of Kentucky. Jan has served as a violin, viola, piano accompaniment and orchestra conducting instructor on the faculty of the New York Conservatory, Music Conservatory of Sandpoint and the International Conservatory in Prague. In 2021, he was honored with the Mayor's Excellent In The Arts Award for the City of Coeur d'Alene, USA. In Seattle, where Jan is currently based, he is working with his Prague Collegium ensemble, focused on Slavic music.
