Piano Lessons with Rafe Axne
Rafe Axne is a pianist, composer, orchestrator, and creative based in San Francisco, California. From a young age, Rafe was surrounded with music and nature. Film soundtracks blared through his bedroom wall from his dads office, and classic rock and reggae came from his moms speakers elsewhere in the house, while his brother blasted rap and R&B in his room.
Rafe began playing piano at the age of five at the Des Moines Symphony Academy in Iowa. He attended concerts at the Des Moines Symphony, which contributed to his love for symphonic music. Rafe then discovered he could write music for media after listening to Danny Elfman’s score to “Nightmare Before Christmas”. After falling in love with film and animation, composers like Alexandre Desplat and Michael Giacchino have also been important inspirations. Rafe has taught music at the Bridge to Arts and Music program at the San Francisco Conservatory, and has completed an internship with Interloper Films. He is currently working towards a Bachelor of Music Degree for Technology and Applied Composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
