Violin & Piano Lessons with Nasim K.
Nasim K. is a violinist, composer, and dedicated educator who brings warmth, patience, and creativity to every lesson. She believes that music learning should be joyful and inspiring, especially for young children just beginning their journey. With many years of teaching experience, Nasim carefully balances strong fundamentals with playful, engaging activities that spark curiosity and help students build confidence on the violin. Her student-centered approach ensures that each child feels supported and encouraged to develop their own unique artistic voice.
As an educator, Nasim is committed to an interdisciplinary style of teaching, drawing on her background not only in violin but also in composition, sound art, and music history. She has taught at UC San Diego, the San Diego Youth Symphony, the San Diego Music Academy, and through MOAASER, a nonprofit online academy she founded to provide free contemporary music education to Persian students worldwide. In all of her teaching, Nasim integrates creativity with careful attention to technique, showing students how music connects to stories, emotions, and culture.
In addition to her teaching, Nasim is an internationally recognized composer whose music has been performed by ensembles such as the Silkroad Ensemble, Del Sol String Quartet, International Contemporary Ensemble, and La Jolla Symphony Orchestra. Her work has been featured at the Ojai Music Festival, the Composers Now IMPACT Series, and in publications including The New York Times and I CARE IF YOU LISTEN. She is also the recipient of the 2024 Nee Commission Prize from the La Jolla Symphony Orchestra. Nasim holds a PhD in Music Composition from UC San Diego, where she studied with Katharina Rosenberger, Marcos Balter, and Rand Steiger.
Parents who work with Nasim can expect lessons that are both enriching and fun, where children not only learn violin technique but also experience the joy of creativity, imagination, and self-expression through music.
