Piano Lessons with Joyce H.
Joyce began playing Piano before age 5. She then began Flute at age 9. When she was just 16 years old, she professionally began teaching flute. She was a professional member of the local Philharmonic Orchestra also at age 16.
Joyce received a B.A. in Flute Performance from Towson University, MD. She then began a Masters Degree in Musicology at Peabody Conservatory, currently an affiliate of Johns Hopkins Univ, MD.
Once her son and daughter became independent, Joyce started her full in-home "Hayutin Music Studio" in Carmel Valley from 2007 until Covid hit in 2020. She was a founding member of "San Diego Coastal Flutes" which hosted an event with Sir James Galway in 1990 at SDSU. They also held annual summer flute camps.
She was a Certified Specialist in flute and piano for over a decade with the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) based in Toronto, also associated with Carnegie Hall. Her students' grades were typically in the excellent category in Flute, Piano and Theory. One of her flute students performed at Carnegie Hall in Jan of 2021 due to her discipline and hard work. She was top 5 in the nation for her division. Joyce currently teaches the ABRSM program in flute, piano and theory. Both programs are universally accepted.
Joyce's passion and energy for teaching quality lessons and encouraging excellence from her students has been proven for decades. Her practical experience makes her very popular with getting along well with children. Joyce is an avid reader on many subjects. Her other interests include healthy cooking, baking homemade breads and lap swimming.
