Violin Lessons with Ryan Cheng
Ryan has performed widely across the United States, most notably at the Smithsonian Institution, with the American Bach Soloists, and with the faculty at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He was a competitor in the 2022 Leipzig International Bach Competition. Ryan is a student at the Juilliard415 program. Ryan studied with Ian Swensen at the San Francisco Conservatory, and Robin Scott and Bin Huang at the Eastman School of Music. He is passionate about teaching people of all ages, levels, and backgrounds, and passing on the knowledge of his mentors.
Ryan taught at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Pre-college, and has experience with private students of all ages and levels from a variety of backgrounds. He can teach in both English and Chinese.
Teaching is his greatest passion, and of all musical activities, he finds teaching and working with students gives him the most energy, and inspires the greatest devotion. What he enjoys most about teaching the violin is watching students develop freedom, not only physically, but musically and mentally. I believe the violin can be a powerful tool to learn how to live our lives with greater compassion, discipline and joy, for others and ourselves.
