Violin Lessons with Daniel M.
Born and raised in the U.K., I had the privilege of starting violin lessons at age 6 and dedicating myself to full-time music studies from the age of 16. Now in my mid-forties, music remains at the center of my life, and I continue to learn, play, and teach every day. This lifelong immersion has allowed me to perform in orchestras, quartets, bands, and ensembles, shaping me into a versatile and passionate musician. My expertise spans classical, folk, and jazz, and I bring this breadth of experience into my teaching, helping students develop their own musical voice while building confidence and technical skill.
As a performer, I have toured extensively, collaborating with international ensembles and musicians across Europe, North America, and the Middle East. This experience has given me a deep appreciation for the diversity of musical traditions and performance practices, which I incorporate into my teaching.
For over 20 years, I have taught violin in the U.K., Egypt, Kuwait and the USA, working with students of all ages and abilities. In Egypt, I founded the country’s first violin-led primary school music department, where every student was introduced to violin studies, making the instrument the heart of the school’s musical culture. In the U.K., I served as the Course Leader for the National Diploma in Popular Music at Colchester Institute, guiding young musicians toward higher education and professional careers.
I am conversant in various violin methodologies, including Suzuki, Cohen, and Abracadabra, as well as ABRSM-graded material for beginners. However, I do not adhere dogmatically to any single approach, recognizing that every student is unique. I adapt my teaching to suit the individuality of each learner, often creating custom arrangements of works to help students progress in a way that feels natural and engaging.
With a patient and supportive approach, I strive to make learning the violin an inspiring and rewarding journey. Whether a student is pursuing classical training, exploring folk traditions, or developing improvisational skills, I focus on building technical confidence, musical expression, and a lifelong love for music.
