Violin & Viola Lessons with Jamie S.

Jamie S. is a violinist and composer who started playing violin at a young age and has continued ever since. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Luther College, where he specialized in violin performance and composition. During his undergraduate studies he played in the symphony and chamber ensembles, as well as in a string quartet. With the Symphony Orchestra he completed a residency in Vienna, Austria, which included a performance at the Musikverein. In addition he attended the International Music Festival of the Adriatic as a composer, where his piano quintet and vocal solo compositions were premiered. His Master of Music in Composition was earned at Boston University, where his compositions were performed by ensembles including Sound Icon and Mivos Quartet. While studying composition he also continued playing violin through lessons and performances with a new music ensemble.

Following graduate school he has continued to play violin with local orchestras and work on new compositions. Jamie enjoys discovering new music and composers as well as playing and listening to classic favorites. He believes in making music accessible to everyone, which leads to finding creative ways of expanding interest in classical and modern instrumental music.
