Cello Lessons with Kieran M.

Kieran is a cello teacher and performer based in Portland. He loves sharing music both on stage and in the classroom, and has experience playing solo, chamber, and orchestral music. Kieran earned his Bachelor’s degree in Cello Performance from the University of Oregon and his Master’s from Western Illinois University.

As a teacher, Kieran is dedicated to helping students of all ages and backgrounds discover the joy of playing the cello. He has taught complete beginners as well as students with years of experience, tailoring lessons to fit each student’s needs and goals. Kieran is trained in the Suzuki Method, and he enjoys using the Suzuki approach because it helps students build strong foundations while keeping lessons fun and engaging.

Outside of teaching, Kieran continues to perform in orchestras, chamber groups, and solo concerts. He has participated in festivals and masterclasses with inspiring cellists and values bringing that experience back to his students. Whether preparing for a school concert, an audition, or simply learning for personal enjoyment, Kieran strives to make music study a positive and rewarding part of each student’s life.
