Piano Lessons with Helen N.

My name is Helen N., and I’m a music educator and piano teacher based in Portland, Oregon. I have experience working with children in both private piano lessons and children’s choir settings, and I enjoy helping students discover the joy of making music.

My teaching philosophy is centered on creating a positive, encouraging, and comfortable learning environment. I believe students learn best when they feel supported, engaged, and free to make mistakes as they grow. Music lessons should be both educational and enjoyable, helping students build strong musical skills while developing confidence and a lasting appreciation for music.

Because every student learns differently, I adapt my approach to each student’s age, personality, interests, and goals. Some students may enjoy creative activities and games, while others may be motivated by learning specific songs or preparing for performances. My goal is to meet each student where they are and help them make meaningful progress at their own pace.

Whether a student is beginning piano for the first time or continuing to develop their skills, I strive to make lessons welcoming, engaging, and rewarding. I want students to leave each lesson feeling proud of what they have accomplished and excited to keep learning.
