Piano Lessons with Jared W.

A native of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, Jared W. is a versatile musician, educator, and collaborative artist with experience as a saxophonist, pianist, conductor, and vocal coach. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Performance from Duquesne University, graduating summa cum laude with a minor in mathematics.

As a saxophonist, Jared has performed as a soloist, chamber musician, and ensemble player. During his time at Duquesne, he served as principal saxophonist of the Wind Symphony Orchestra and performed extensively with the university’s saxophone ensemble, symphony orchestra, and other ensembles. He was also a featured member of the Duquesne University Saxophone Quartet, which performed at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Conference and live on Pittsburgh classical radio station WQED-FM.

Jared has received several awards for his performance, including first place in both the Duquesne Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and the Women’s Advisory Board Competition. He is equally active as a pianist, with extensive experience accompanying singers and instrumentalists in recitals, lessons, masterclasses, recording sessions, opera programs, and chamber performances. His work has taken him to international programs in Bologna, Italy, and Sofia, Bulgaria, where he has served as a staff pianist, coach, conductor, and administrator.

As a teacher, Jared works with students in both saxophone and piano, from elementary-aged beginners through college-level musicians and adults. His teaching emphasizes strong technique, music literacy, musical expression, and helping students become confident, independent musicians.

Outside of music, Jared enjoys baking bread and reading the novels of Jane Austen.
