Piano Lessons with Chuwen W.

Chuwen is currently a graduate student and teaching assistant in the doctoral program at Arizona State University. She was a graduate student in a collaborative piano major at Rice University Shepherd School of Music under the guidance of Professor Virginia Weckstrom. She was pursuing her bachelor’s degree in piano performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Professor Awadagin Pratt. She started the journey of the piano when she was 5 years old. After a few years, she went to Xinghai Conservatory of Music at the age of 11 and studied with Professor Mei Li. She moved to the United States to begin her academic career life and pursue her musical path with Dr. Michael Coonrod at Interlochen Arts Academy, then graduated and got her high school diploma from there when she was 18. Throughout her music education, she has been instructed professionally in her music path.

Chuwen has a lot of experience in performance. She has held many solo concerts at many music venues and has been invited as a guest artist to share the stage in a concert at Cedarville University (2021). She is interested in collaborative piano. She has had cooperation with different instrumentalists, and she has given a chamber concert at Christ Church Cathedral in Cincinnati last year. She worked for a church from 2015 to 2017 as an accompaniment. She worked for CCM keyboard departments as a vocal accompanist. And now, she is a graduate assistant at Shepherd School of Music teaching classes and working as a recording staff as well.

Throughout her music journey, she has been granted multiple scholarships and a wide range of awards. She was the gold medalist of the 2021 Canadian International Music Competition, and 2022 International Youth Music Competition. She was also a prizewinner of the 2021 Clara Schumann International Competition, the 2021 International Moscow Music Competition, the 2022 VI Tokyo International Music Competition, the 2022 London International Music Competition, the Medici International Music Competition, and the 2024 New York Classical Music Competition. Other than that, she has been awarded CCM honors scholarship during her undergraduate studies and CCM Dean’s list for high academic achievement.

She attended the Eastern Music Festival in 2018 and participated in the Collaborative Piano Institute in 2022 as well to study with many famous teachers.
