Jiun-Ru is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Art (DMA) degree at Rutgers University, studying under Jonathan Sptiz, who is the principal cellist of the New Jersey Symphony. Meanwhile, Jiun-Ru is also a Suzuki Cello instructor at Germantown Academy. Jiun-Ru also received both Master of Cello Performance degree and Professional Studies Post-Master’s Certificate in cello from Temple University, studying under Jeffery Solow. While pursuing her degrees from Temple, Jiun-Ru performed with the TU Symphony Orchestra, Opera Orchestra, Early Music Ensemble, and New Music Ensemble and studied Lower Strings Pedagogy with Jeffrey Solow. During her first academic year at Rutgers pursuing her DMA, she has performed with the Rutgers Symphony Orchestra throughout the northern New Jersey area. In addition, Jiun-Ru is a Suzuki certified cello instructor and has studied the Suzuki method with Beth Goldstein-McKee. Being a passionate and energetic teacher, Jiun-Ru teaches a wide variety of students, ranging from young kids to adults, and as small as individual lessons to large group classes in both Taiwan and Eastern Pennsylvania. Before pursuing her Doctoral degree, she was a cello instructor of several music institutes, and she also was a general music class teacher of a high school in her home country, Taiwan. She is a strong believer that “Every child has the possibilities to be a great musician.” Jiun-Ru prides herself in promoting not just the proper way to master cello performance, but more importantly, helping the students develop a love and passion for music.
