Violin & Viola Lessons with Rose B.
Rose Barranco is a violinist, composer, and dedicated teacher currently pursuing a Master of Music in Violin Performance at Mannes School of Music in NYC where she studies with Ralph Evans of the Fine Arts Quartet. Rose began her musical journey at a young age and was invited to attend Baltimore School for the Arts, where she studied with Baltimore Symphony violinist Ivan Stefanovic. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance as Valedictorian at Boston Conservatory at Berklee, studying under renowned violinist Lynn Chang. Violinist of the Dante Trio, Rose is a highly sought after chamber musician featured in the Emerging Artist Recital Series at Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival and community concerts at Harvard Chamber Music Festival. Coached by Michael Lewin and Rhonda Rider, her performances of Babajanyan and Arensky trios were recorded under Grammy-nominated audio engineer, Jim Donahue.
As recipient of the Arthur B. Whitney Medal of Academic Achievement, Rose has enjoyed serving as Concertmaster for many ensembles including the Boston Conservatory Composers’ Orchestra, Opera, Conductors’ Orchestra, and Berklee Film Scoring Studio Orchestra. Rose has been invited to perform in masterclasses for distinguished artists including Nathan Cole, Tai Murray, Yevgeny Kutik, and Ronald Copes. As a Richard Ortner Thrive Scholar, her mature artistry has been recognized by many awards including the John J. Costonis Scholarship, Audrey Sherrill and Michael D’Ambrisi Music Scholarship, Susan B. Katzenberg Scholarship, and Judith Famous Music Scholarship. In 2024, she enjoyed performing in the Boston Conservatory’s Hemenway Strings for a PBS episode of Great Performances’ Now Hear This: “Old Friends,” Ft. Yo-Yo Ma.
Beyond violin performance, Rose is passionate about composition, piano, and viola. She studied violin and viola pedagogy with renowned Boston Pedagogue Rictor Noren and piano technique with Carlos Vargas. Rose customizes her lessons to build strong healthy technique, musical confidence, and a lifelong enjoyment of music, helping each student grow according to their unique goals and learning style. In an increasingly divisive world, Rose believes music and musicians can bring healing transformation to their communities.
