Violin and Viola Lessons with Philip C.

Philip C. is a violinist/violist and music educator based out of New York City. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he began playing violin at age 9 and viola at age 16, studying under the tutelage of Lee Snyder and Xiao-Fu Zhou. He moved to New York in 2011 to attend Stony Brook University, where he studied with Joanna Kaczarowska, Philip Setzer, Soovin Kim, Hagai Shaham, and Arnaud Sussman.

An active performer, Philip has played with various ensembles and chamber groups in the New York Metropolitan area, including recently with the Chamber Orchestra of New York, the MostArts Summer Festival Orchestra, and the Highline Quartet.

Philip maintains a private studio, teaching violin, viola and piano to students of varying ages and abilities. He is well versed in the requirements of New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA), preparing students of all levels for successful auditions every year. Philip’s teaching exists at an intersection of music and mindfulness, and he strives to leave his students with wisdom that may reach their lives beyond the scope of the music lesson. He looks forward to working with you!
