Violin and Viola Lessons with Nick Pauly

Nick Pauly is a violist, composer, and improviser from Brooklyn, New York. He has recently served on the strings faculty for Third Street Music School Settlement, Woodmere Music Studios, and Harmony Program.

Nick's teaching objective is to integrate Suzuki curriculum with the student's musical interests, popular song, and improvisation. He has composed numerous songs for young students to encourage creative sound-making and musical drama. Popular string tunes include “Waterfalls and Lizards” and “Seagulls on Saturn.”

Nick has performed with contemporary ensembles in the northeast, including Rhymes with Opera, Ensemble Mise-En, the String Orchestra of Brooklyn, Bang on a Can, and Concerts on the Slope. He has written several large-scale works for solo viola, including Four C3s for One: a suite for viola with four unison C strings (2017). He maintains an active YouTube channel of music cover videos for viola, improvisations for singing bowls, and experiments for nontraditional percussion. In 2021, he was recorded for the soundtrack of the Netflix film, Mixtape.

Outside of his musical interests, Nick enjoys playing ping-pong, attending Mets baseball games, and abstract painting.
