Violin Lessons with Vivian Mayers
Vivian Mayers is an active teacher and performer in the New York City area. She plays on both modern and historical instruments, and is currently pursuing a Master of Music from The Juilliard School in Historical Performance. She studies with Cynthia Roberts and Elizabeth Blumenstock, and has performed in master classes with such distinguished musicians as Rachel Barton Pine, Rachel Podger, Robert Mealy, and Marilyn MacDonald. Ms. Mayers performs regularly with the period orchestra Juilliard415, and has played under the direction of Masaaki Suzuki and Pablo Heras-Casado. An opera enthusiast, she has lent her talents to productions by the Yale Baroque Opera Project and Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble in NYC. While completing her Bachelor of Arts in History at Yale University, Ms. Mayers distinguished herself in the University's music scene, winning both the Yale Bach Society Prize and the Susan G. Smith Arts Prize in 2021.
Ms. Mayers is committed to sharing her knowledge and love of music through student-centered teaching. She believes that all students possess talent, and that success comes in many different forms, from attaining a virtuosic level of technical skill to simply becoming a more beautiful and communicative person through music. She was taught by Suzuki teachers from a young age, and employs this pedagogical method in her own teaching. An advocate for learning in all areas of life, Ms. Mayers also works as a private academic tutor in English and Writing. She enjoys working with students of all ages, from toddlers to seniors.
