Violin and Piano Lessons with Sunny Sheu
Sunny Sheu holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Violin Performance from The Juilliard School. She studied with Masao Kawasaki, and has had master classes from renowned violinists such as Midori Goto, Miriam Fried, Yair Kless, Cho-Liang Lin, Shmuel Ashkenasi, and David Chan. At Juilliard, Sunny was a recipient of the Dr. Edmond Lipton Memorial Scholarship, the H. & E. Kivekas Scholarship, and the Fima Fidelman Scholarship.
Sunny grew up on the Suzuki method, and has knowledge in performance psychology and the Alexander Technique. She has experience as a violin and piano teacher since living in Taiwan, and has worked with a variety of students of different ages and backgrounds. Sunny also has experience in advising parents and students on college applications and auditions.
An avid musician and collaborator, Sunny has performed works of varying genres. In 2017, Sunny premiered Cracked Orlando, a high-modernist baroque opera by Jonathan Dawe and the Center for Innovation in the Arts. In early 2018, she had the pleasure of performing world premier compositions in Alice Tully Hall with the New Juilliard Ensemble. Later that year, she performed in Juilliard’s first musical, an adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods. In 2019, the Center for Innovation in the Arts invited Sunny to produce and perform in their annual Beyond the Machine and InterArts workshop. She worked closely with and performed alongside composer Jack McGuire and choreographer Can Wang on We All Should Help, and also performed in actor Brittany Vicars’ The Wasteland. She also dabbles in music production and film scoring, composing soundtracks and sound mixing for indie films ranging from animation to documentary.
