Piano Lessons with Ronen Shai

Ronen Shai holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Music Composition from the Manhattan School of Music. Before moving to New York City, he studied composition in Jerusalem, Israel, where he graduated from the Academy of Music and Dance. His style as a music educator is inspired by his teachers in Israel, composer André Hajdu and pianist Ora Rotem, both incredibly accomplished and with close relations with the European music scene. After graduating from MSM, Ronen worked as an editor for G. Schirmer, a music publishing house in Manhattan and produced professional scores and other music-related materials for public performances of the NY Philharmonic, the LA Philharmonic, and others. Ronen’s knowledge and passion extend beyond classical music to Jazz, Pop, film scores, musicals, folk, Central Asian, and Middle Eastern music. He has a vast knowledge of music technology and electronic music production. Ronen is also a certified Alexander Technique teacher and implements it into instrument teaching. In addition to his work as a dedicated piano teacher, he can teach young children computer programming with a focus on music using Scratch and Scratch Junior from MIT, in addition to coding using a programming language. Ronen genuinely cares about children and is invested in contributing to their development and happiness through music. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and two children.
