Violin Lessons with Hannah Cohen
Hannah Lynn Cohen has been collaborating with and studying under master teachers on a national and global scale for over fifteen years. Ms. Cohen began her violin studies at the age of four and at the age of seven, she fell under the guidance of the late violinist and maestro Joseph Silverstein. Mr. Silverstein mentored Ms. Cohen until his death in 2015. During this time, Ms. Cohen made her orchestral debut performing Lalo Symphonie Espagnole with the Holyoke Civic Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Cohen recently graduated with a Master of Music in Violin Performance from New York University Steinhardt School where she was a student of Kurt Nikkanen and Cyrus Beroukhim. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Boston University School of Music. There, Ms Cohen was a student of Peter Zazofsky. During her undergraduate studies Ms Cohen had the privilege to study abroad at the Royal College of Music in London where she was a student of Jan Repko. Prior to her collegiate studies, she studied with Wendy Sharp, and Betty Jean Hagen. Additionally, Ms. Cohen has performed in masterclasses led by teachers such as Joseph Silverstein, Daniel Philips, Irina Muresanu, Robin Sharp, Klaudia Szlachta and Bayla Keyes.
An avid chamber musician, Ms. Cohen has attended numerous festivals including National Music Festival, Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, and MusicAlp International Academy of Music. Additionally, In 2019, Ms. Cohen founded Harlow Chamber Players: a network of young musicians based in New York City. The collective currently has seven musicians on the roster and has performed at many venues around Berkshire County and is looking forward to expanding this coming year. Ms. Cohen currently resides in New York City where she is pursuing an Artist Diploma at New York University Steinhardt School with Kurt Nikkanen and Cyrus Beroukhim, while simultaneously holding the position of Adjunct Teacher of Violin Studies at NYU.
