Piano Lessons with Giancarlo Llerena

Giancarlo Llerena, a native of West Palm Beach, FL, is pursuing his Bachelor of Music Degree at The Juilliard School as a piano performance major. An avid performer, he has played at many prestigious venues, such as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Kravis Center, the New World Center, Harris Concert Hall, the Breakers, several Steinway Halls, and has performed for the Martha-Mary/Yamaha Concert Series in Miami. Recently, Giancarlo was a winner of the National YoungArts Competition, the Pathfinder Scholarship Award, and the Arts For Life Scholarship Award, presented by former Florida governor, Jeb Bush. He has attended the Tanglewood Institute and the Aspen Music Festival on fellowship, and has been awarded 1st prize in several competitions, including the FFMC Junior Convention, the Pompano Beach Piano Competition, and the Steinway & Sons Piano Competition. Among other 1st prize wins are two that allowed him to make his concerto debuts with the Greater Miami Youth Symphony and the Dreyfoos Philharmonic Orchestra. At Juilliard, Giancarlo is also a staff pianist for the College and Prep Divisions, and is a recipient of the Gluck Community Service Fellowship, the Howard & Ethel B. Ross Piano Scholarship, and the Hanna Saxon Piano Scholarship. During his time there, he has had the privilege of being mentored by many sought-after musicians, such as Itzhak Perlman, Rohan de Silva, David Finckel, Areta Zhulla, Robert Levin, and others. Giancarlo currently studies with Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky and Julian Martin.

 Aside from performing, Giancarlo very much loves to teach and has been doing so since his high school days, having taught privately in South Florida. His teaching approach is very student-oriented, and he makes sure that short-term and long-term goals are aimed for! Having been blessed with such wonderful teachers throughout his life, Giancarlo would be humbled to carry on their legacy to new, driven students; individuality and self-expression are traits he wants to help foster. All in all, he is always incredibly enthusiastic to share his insights and experiences with students who embody curiosity and potential!
