Cello Lessons with Ceridwen M.

Ceridwen is an accomplished cellist and passionate educator, currently pursuing a Master’s in Music Performance and Composition at The New School’s College of Performing Arts in New York City. With a robust background in the art of performance, composition, and teaching, Ceridwen brings a wealth of experience and creativity to her students.

Having taught students ranging from young children to adults, Ceridwen tailors her teaching approach to meet each student's unique needs and goals. She feels honoured to have been taught by some amazing cello teachers and takes great pride in continuing the legacy of inspiring and fun music teaching.

Ceridwen’s own musical journey is marked by numerous accolades and prestigious opportunities. She holds a Bachelor of Music Performance from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, where she graduated with first-class honours. Her exceptional talent has been recognised with a variety of awards and scholarships, including The New School Merit Scholarship, the Joyce McKenna Scholarship, The Kate Flowers Memorial Scholarship, The Allen Zavod Performer Award, and the Ian Potter Cultural Trust Award. She was also nominated for the Freedman Fellowship in 2023.

Ceridwen has an extensive performance background. She has been selected for elite programs such as the Eighth Blackbird Creative Lab and the Australian Art Orchestra’s Creative Music Intensive. She has been recognised as a Dots and Loops Performance Fellow and, in 2022, was announced as the winner of the 3MBS The Talent competition. She has been invited to perform in the Music She Wrote Festival, Brunswick Music Festival, and NONSTOP festival.

Her achievements in composition have been equally impressive, being selected for creative music writing programs from notable ensembles like the Flinders Quartet and the Australian Art Orchestra. Additionally, she participated in the Ensemble Offspring Hatched Home Academy, further solidifying her reputation as a creative force in contemporary music.

In 2019, Ceridwen released her debut album, The Conference of the Birds, with New York record label RHODIUM, and she is currently writing her second album.

Ceridwen is dedicated to creating a supportive and inspiring learning environment for her students, where they can develop their musical talents and express themselves through the cello, the way she was taught to. Whether teaching beginners or advanced players, she aims to instill a lifelong love of music and cultivate in each student a unique musical voice.
