Violin Lessons with Deborah Nixon

Originally from Peoria, Illinois, Deborah is an active freelancer and teacher in the New York City area. A keen ensemble musician, she has performed in various ensembles in the city, including the Bronx Opera, Mimesis Ensemble, and the Chelsea Symphony, with which she recently appeared as soloist. She earned a Master of Music in Solo Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music (UK) and a Bachelor of Music (magna cum laude) in Violin Performance with a minor in British Literature from NYU Steinhardt. Internationally, she has performed as an orchestral member in the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano, Italy and as a chamber musician in the RNCM Chamber Music Festival and Friday Chamber Series in collaboration with the late Peter Cropper (Lindsays Quartet). Summer festivals have included the Aspen Music Festival and the Künstlerhaus Boswil (Switzerland). 


A dedicated educator, Deborah has over six years of experience teaching private violin lessons to students of all levels aged four through adult. Her approach emphasizes musical understanding and creativity with the support of a comfortable and reliable technique. She is a member of the American String Teachers' Association.
