Cello Lessons with Rebeca G.

I studied Cello Performance at the Mannes School of Music and Boston University, and trained at the Royal College of Music in London. Before moving to NYC, I lived in London for 5 years, performing full time with classical ensembles such as the London Firebird Orchestra and Brixton Chamber Orchestra, as well as working at the Little London Music School!

Here is a little bit about my teaching style:

I love getting to know my students’ different personalities, and tailoring my teaching to match their specific goals and learning styles. Ultimately, I want them to find joy and fun in learning their instruments while growing as musicians. One of my students was really ambitious and able to practice multiple hours a day. I worked with him to set up a practice schedule (scales, etudes, and solo pieces) that challenged him so that he could meet his goal of passing to the next level of the ABRSM exams in Britain. Another student loved playing cello but had too many activities and sports during the week to practice at all. We used her lesson time to work through shorter pieces and perform them as duets for her family, and I wrote out cello arrangements of her favorite pop songs and soundtracks for her to learn. Her mother wrote to me “[name] has loved learning with you and has grown so much in her cello (and confidence) this year. It’s been such a joy having you as her teacher, and we’re so grateful for the encouragement and inspiration you’ve given her.”
