Cello Lessons with Byron Hogan


Byron Hogan is a cellist from Lakeland, Florida, and holds Master’s Degrees in Cello Performance and Chamber Performance from the University of South Florida, a Graduate Performance Diploma from The Boston Conservatory,  and an Artist’s Diploma from Montclair State University. From 2010 to 2012, he was artist in residence at The University of South Florida as a member of the President’s Piano Trio. He has played in groups such as the Ocala Symphony Orchestra, The Osud Trio, The St. Petersburg Opera, and The Miami Ballet and has performed solos with The Imperial Symphony in Lakeland and the Bogus Pomp Orchestra in Germany.

After moving to Boston in 2012, he was a founding member of the Julius Quartet. The string quartet has been invited to study and perform all over North America including venues in Stanford, Virginia, Banff, Montreal, Rockport, and Carnegie Hall. They are currently the Peak Fellowship Ensemble, the prestigious ensemble-in-residence at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

Byron has taught cello students of all ages and skill levels from beginners to college students in school settings and privately. His teaching includes college level technique classes in Florida, students as young as 3 with Project STEP and Four Strings Academy in Boston, and presented workshops on ensemble playing around the United States with the Julius Quartet. Byron has over 10 years of teaching experience, and his students have gone on to participate in All-State Orchestra, and play in professional orchestras.
