Piano Lessons with Amalia Rinehart
A native of Brooklyn, NY, pianist Amalia Rinehart earned her Bachelor’s degree in music, summa cum laude, from Columbia University. She is currently a scholarship student of Gilbert Kalish in the graduate music program of Stony Brook University. In recent summers, she has participated in various music festivals such as Kneisel Hall (ME), Icicle Creek Chamber Music Institute (WA), Colorado College Summer Music Festival, the Bowdoin International Music Festival (ME) as a Kaplan Fellow, and the Sarasota Music Festival in Florida, through which she was featured on WQXR’s Young Artists Showcase.
Ms. Rinehart also has extensive experience teaching piano to students of all ages and levels of proficiency. Over the past 7 years, her students have ranged from preschoolers who have not yet learned to read, to seniors in high school and amateur young adults. She has taught her own private students, as well as undergraduates as a Teaching Assistant at Stony Brook University, and has been on the faculty of Chen Dance Center in Manhattan as piano instructor for the past three years. She believes that with patience, support and individually-catered guidance, any student can become fluent in music theory and express themselves openly through music.
