Soraya is Student of the Month!

Congratulations to Soraya for earning Student of the Month in NYC! Soraya started violin lessons with City Strings last January, and has progressed quickly! With the start of the school year, she was able to exceed expectations after taking much of the summer off. In just two violin lessons, she mastered “Etude” from Suzuki Violin Book 1, something that usually takes much longer! She’s learning to read music, and has moved on to the tricky bowings patterns found in the Minuets.

Her goal is to learn all of the pieces in the book by January- one year after she began her private lessons. Maybe she’ll even do a Suzuki Book One Violin Recital! As her teacher, I am most proud of her focus, attention to detail, and the joy she takes from learning a new skill or making an improvement to her technique or sound. I am also thrilled that she is trying to develop a new habit of listening to the Suzuki recordings regularly! Congratulations, Soraya!!
