Violin & Piano Lessons with Laura Frederiksen
Laura Frederiksen is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist. She began playing the piano at the age of 6. From then on, her passion for music quickly grew. She started playing tuba and violin at the age of 10 and over the years, has added a multitude of other instruments to her repertoire. Laura was a violinist in the All State Orchestra and concertmaster for both her high school and college orchestras. She graduated from Augsburg University with a bachelor’s of science in music therapy and is now a board certified music therapist.
She studied the violin under Krista Broadway Swider, Mary Horozaniecki, and Elise Parker. She studied the piano under Camille Buddecke. Laura works at “The Birches of Trillium Woods,” helping to enrich the lives of senior citizens while bringing them music.
In her spare time, Laura enjoys playing violin in a quartet with her former violin teacher, kayaking, baking, and spending time with friends and family.
Laura believes in sharing her love of music and instilling that in others. Her goal is to empower students to be successful people as well as competent musicians. Laura believes in using a well-rounded approach by using a combination of the Suzuki books and other various materials. She believes in emphasizing the importance of balancing proper playing techniques and theory, while developing musicality and passion within students.
