Piano Lessons with Zachary B.

Kicking to the beat in his mothers womb at a King Crimson show, Zachary began his relationship with music at an early age. From classic rock to classical, he has been exposed to a wide variety of musical genres throughout his life, and continues to enrich himself musically everyday. When first discovering his talent and love for singing at the age of 10, Zachary had been chosen by a local singer-songwriter to co-write and perform a song alongside him for a school event in front of a thousand people. After that performance, Zachary chose to dedicate his life to music.

By the age of 11 he had taken up the guitar, followed shortly by the drumset. Zachary was a member of every musical ensemble he could be in, whether it was during, before, or after school. Zachary held the position of first chair throughout high school, and was even tasked with teaching the drumline of his high school’s marching band as a sophomore.

Upon graduating from high school, Zachary went on to study music education and jazz at Minnesota State University Moorhead, where he maintained that same drive to be as involved with other musicians as possible, maintaining membership in the wind ensemble, orchestra, percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble, etc.

After college, Zachary moved home to Minneapolis and began teaching at a music cooperative in an underprivileged neighborhood, where he had the opportunity to apply his teaching skills more than ever before, and learn more than he could have ever imagined. Everybody learns differently. We all have different strengths, weaknesses, and experiences. Seeking to cater to each individual student’s needs and abilities, Zachary believes in giving his students the lesson they need that day, not the next lesson in the book.
