Violin & Viola Lessons with Liz S.

Liz is a violinist, conductor, and educator from Kansas City, Missouri, who is delighted to now be living in Madison, Wisconsin! She had a vibrant musical upbringing and has been playing the violin since the age of 10. At 16-years-old, she was a finalist in the 2012 orchestra for the American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall, among the 30% of applicants who were selected. In 2016, she won the Liberty Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition and performed as a featured soloist with the ensemble, performing Édouard Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole, Op. 21. Liz graduated from William Jewell College in 2017 with a B.S. in Instrumental Music Education and then moved to Columbia, Missouri for her first music teaching job. As a teacher for the Columbia Public School District, she led instruction for beginning- and intermediate-level musicians on violin, viola, cello, and bass. During her seven-year tenure, Liz focused heavily on perfecting students’ technique, providing a strong foundation for them to succeed in music during high school and beyond.

Since moving to Madison, Wisconsin, Liz has joined the Middleton Community Orchestra and the Madison Gamer Symphony Orchestra. In her spare time, Liz loves to knit, play video games with her husband, and cuddle with her cat, Felix (named after composer, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy).
