Cello Lessons with Jacob M.
Cellist and educator Jacob M. is based in Madison, Wisconsin. Jacob received his undergraduate education at the Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music and completed his Master of Music degree at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in December, 2021. His primary teachers include Regina Mushabac and Uri Vardi. Jacob has also worked extensively with Daniel Pereira (Cleveland Institute of Music) and Mark Rudoff (Ohio State University). Other significant mentors include Parry Karp (Pro Arte Quartet), James Hirt (Baldwin Wallace), and Deborah Price (Chamber Music Connection). Jacob’s experience with the Feldenkrais Method of somatic education allows him to teach with a unique, whole-body perspective. Jacob’s teaching philosophy involves getting to know each student’s personality and learning style, and adjusting his teaching style to match. This means the same concepts can be taught in a number of ways, depending on the students’ needs. Jacob believes it is his job as a teacher to bring out and celebrate the qualities that make each person unique. Curiosity and tangential thinking are hallmarks of Jacob’s teaching style; he has been known to incorporate elements of dancing, singing, sports, visual art, and science into music lessons.
