Violin & Viola Lessons with Lindan Burns
Lindan Burns earned her BM in Viola Performance at The Juilliard School, and is currently pursuing her MM in Viola Performance at Juilliard, studying with Misha Amory and Hsin-Yun Huang. She is a proud recipient of the Jerome L. Greene Fellowship, which aims to advance the next generation of performing artists. She has been a Principal Violist of the Juilliard Orchestra since 2021, and currently serves as an Ear Training Fellow.
Lindan has worked with world-renown artists including Itzhak Perlman, Merry Peckham, Helen Callus, Cynthia Phelps, Rebecca Young, Vivek Kamath, Carol Rodland, Kirsten Doctor, Brett Deubner, Lawrence Dutton, Nokuthula Ngwenyama, Sheng Li, Csaba Erdelyi, Robert McDonald, Thomas Sauer, Terry Sweeney, Mimi Hwang, Natasha Brofsky, Jeffrey Milarsky, and the Borromeo, Cooperstown, Brentano, Pacifica, Faure, and Calder Quartets. She has attended numerous music festivals including the Young Artist’s Program National Arts Centre, Castleman Quartet Program, Perlman Music Program (“Littles”), Next Festival of Emerging Artists, Yellow Barn Young Artist’s Program, and Taos School of Music.
Passionate about interdisciplinary arts, Lindan enjoys collaborating with composers, choreographers, producers, and musicians. She has worked with Juilliard creative associate Nadia Sirota, Mike Block, Miranda Cuckson, Jessica Meyer, Aaron Kernis, and violin/cello duo Arkai. She has performed improvisatory concerts in NYC and participated in creative workshops within Juilliard.
Lindan finds her love of teaching expands across multiple subjects. She is a rock climbing instructor and youth teams coach at Central Rock Gym Manhattan, where she regularly works with clients of all ages. Her hobbies outside of music include ballroom dancing, hiking, and horseback riding.
