Piano Lessons with Jin W.
Jin is a classical pianist and harpsichordist with extensive experience in both performance and teaching. As a student researcher, Jin focuses on an interdisciplinary study of music and psychology. She regularly performs across the US and China, offers music lessons to students of all ages, and is open to research opportunities.
Jin's repertoire of classical music spans from the late Renaissance to contemporary works. Her greatest passion is to cultivate the beauty of music from a variety of periods and styles. She is also passionate about teaching, leveraging her strong educational background in music and psychology to help students discover their unique ways of connecting not only with the beautiful sounds but also with the people and times behind them.
Jin has earned top prizes in numerous competitions, including first prize in the Artist of the Year competition and a top prize in the Best Bach Performance competition. Recent performances include recitals at Pickman Hall, Smith Recital Hall, Smith Memorial Room, Clark-Lindsey, and Steinway Hall in Wuhan. She regularly participates in master classes and music festivals, where she has studied with renowned musicians such as Ian Hobson, Barry Snyder, Natalya Antonova, Robert Shannon, Bruce Brubaker, Boaz Sharon, and Hie-Yon Choi.
Before coming to the US, Jin studied with pianist Hong Xu. She received a BM in Piano Performance and a BS in Interdisciplinary Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied with William Heiles, Timothy Ehlen, and Charlotte Mattax Moersch. She recently received an MM degree from the Longy School of Music of Bard College, studying with Gila Goldstein.
