Piano Lessons with Rebecca K.

Hi! I’m Rebecca! I’ve been an elementary general music teacher in the KC area for 5 years and have spent most of my life making music through voice, piano, and viola. I’ve worked with students of all ages, from little kids to adults, and I really believe lessons can teach you more than just music. They can help you become a better student, build confidence, and have fun learning something new!

I earned my Bachelor of Music Education with a Choral Emphasis from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, where I developed a strong foundation in music education, performance, and classroom instruction. During my time at UMKC, I performed with the Conservatory Concert Choir and Conservatory Singers and participated in conference performances including ACDA, KMEA, and MMEA.

My teaching experience has given me the opportunity to work with students in many different settings. Before becoming a full-time elementary general music teacher, I completed classroom observations and student teaching at both the elementary and middle school levels. Today, I teach general music to more than 500 elementary students each week, which has helped me become especially skilled at adapting lessons to different ages, learning styles, abilities, and personalities.

Although voice, piano, and viola are my primary instruments, I also have experience with guitar, ukulele, violin, cello, clarinet, flute, and percussion. I love being able to draw on that broad musical background when helping students understand how music works and discover what excites them most.

In lessons, my goal is to create an encouraging, welcoming environment where students feel comfortable trying new things, asking questions, and making mistakes. I want students to develop strong musical skills, but I also want them to leave lessons feeling proud of their progress. Whether a student is learning piano for the first time, building confidence as a performer, or simply looking for a creative outlet, I want music lessons to be something they genuinely look forward to each week.
