Piano Lessons with Menghui Z

Menghui Z is a professionally trained pianist and experienced piano instructor with a strong background in both performance and teaching. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Northwestern – St. Paul, where he studied with pianist and pedagogue Paul Wirth, and a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC) Conservatory, where he studied with internationally acclaimed pianist Sean Chen.

During his graduate studies at UMKC, Menghui received a substantial scholarship in recognition of his musical ability and academic achievement. As a scholarship recipient, he was frequently invited to perform at events outside the university for donors and supporters of the Conservatory, giving him additional experience performing and representing the school in professional and community settings.

Menghui has also participated in masterclasses with distinguished pianists including Reed Tetzloff and Albert Tiu, further developing his musical interpretation, technique and approach to performance.

Alongside his performance training, Menghui has extensive experience as a piano teacher. He has taught more than 80 students, ranging in age from 4 to 46, in both the United States and China. His teaching experience includes The Academy of Music at the University of Northwestern – St. Paul and Inspiration Performing Arts Center, as well as several years of piano teaching in China.

As a teacher, Menghui believes that every student learns differently. He combines a strong foundation in technique, musicianship and musical interpretation with an individualized approach based on each student's age, personality, goals and learning style. Whether a student is beginning piano for the first time or looking to develop more advanced musical and technical skills, his goal is to help students become more confident, independent and expressive musicians.
