Piano Lessons with Madelyn Chappell
Madelyn is a masters student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro pursuing a Master of Music in Music Theory. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music with piano as her primary instrument from Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC, studying with her teacher Dr. Yong Im Federle. During her time at Salem, she was the 2018 recipient of the Winnie-Warlick Simpson Award, awarded to the student who exhibits proficiency in music theory and composition. Madelyn has training in the Lister-Sink Method, founded by Dr. Barbara Lister-Sink. This method was designed to teach well-coordinated, injury-preventive keyboard technique.
Throughout her years as an undergraduate student, Madelyn began teaching private piano lessons to students of various ages and experiences. In 2019, she began teaching general music at East Rockingham Elementary School and was the conductor of the East Rockingham Elementary School chorus. In 2021, she began teaching piano at Richmond Community College in Hamlet, NC. Madelyn has served as interim pianist for many local churches in her hometown of Rockingham, NC. She has experience in solo performance, accompanying, and choral conducting.
