Ga Eun Ban, Piano Teacher

Korean Canadian pianist Gaeun Ban has started to earn attention since 2013, when she had won the Canadian Music Competition at the age of 18. She has also won top prizes at the Kiwanis Music Festival and Peel Music Festival in several different categories. Some of her major performances include solo recitals at the Steinway Hall in New York City, Guk-je Art Hall in Seoul and a performance with Napolinova orchestra playing Schumann concerto.

Ban is currently pursuing Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Boston University. She holds Graduate Performance Diploma and Master of Music degree from Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, and Bachelor’s from New England Conservatory. Her major teachers include Boaz Sharon, Yong Hi Moon, Gabriel Chodos, Yun He Lee, Irina Chukovskaya and Kyung Sook Lee. She also had masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Alexander Korsantia, and Eteri Andjaparidze.

She has about 9 years of teaching experience ranging from beginners to college students. She believes that one of the most important thing to teach as a teacher is to make music enjoyable for the students. Not only learning how to read the music scores, but to help her students deeply understand the music and appreciate it as well.
