Lessons with Manya A.

Hello! My name is Manya A, and I am a music educator and violinist living in the Detroit area. In 2021, I received my B.M. in violin performance from Cleveland Institute of Music, and in 2025, I received my M.A. in music education from Case Western Reserve University. I started learning the violin at age four, and have been making music ever since. I find a deep sense of gratification from helping the next generation develop musical understanding and skills. I believe that teaching music can support the development of the whole child.

I am a spirited, nurturing, and progressive music educator. During each lesson, I hope to support the musical and developmental needs of each student by thoughtfully selecting my pedagogical strategies, resources, and repertoire to meet the students’ interests and needs. Every child can find passion for making music, and each student requires a different path to find that passion.

My research interests include music instruction’s influence on language and literacy development as well as sensory needs in the music classroom. In January, 2025, I gave a poster presentation about music instruction’s influence on language learning in autistic gestalt language processors. Feel free to reach out with questions about these topics! I teach Violin, Viola, Piano and Beginner Cello and am certified in the Suzuki Method.
