Piano Lessons with Kelly R.
Hi, my name is Kelly! I’ve been playing piano for over 20 years, and I’ve been teaching for about a year now. I’m currently finishing up my degree in Psychology at Capital University, which has really helped me connect with students and understand how people learn in different ways. In addition to piano, I’ve also spent 6 years training in marching band and pit percussion, so I bring a broad range of musical experience to my teaching.
One of my passions is helping students develop strong technique and a solid understanding of music theory. I believe these two elements form the foundation for everything else, whether you’re learning a new piece or exploring a new genre of music. I also love to focus on what my students are interested in, so if there’s something specific they want to learn—be it a favorite song, improvisation, or specific theory inquiries—I’m all for it.
I like to let students explore their creativity and try new things, but I also know when it’s time to bring them back to the task at hand if things start to go off track. That balance of structure and freedom is key to keeping lessons both fun and productive. Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, I’m here to guide you on your musical journey and help you grow at your own pace.
My ultimate goal is to make learning piano enjoyable and rewarding, and to help each student feel confident in their musical abilities. I want to create an environment where everyone feels inspired to keep learning and growing, both as musicians and as individuals..
