Piano Lessons with Bryan B.

Music has always been at the center of Bryan’s life — as a singer-musician performer, songwriter, worship pastor, and student mentor who loves helping others discover their own artistic voice. With over 30 years of teaching and 40 years of performing and leading, he is known for a warm, approachable style that inspires students to enjoy music while still striving for excellence.

A graduate with a Bachelor of Music in Performance and a minor in Music Education from Portland State University, Bryan studied with the world-renowned Dr Joel Bluestone. He has taught one-onone lessons, group classes, and music courses for students of all ages on six continents. His teaching philosophy centers on sparking joy and curiosity—whether through rhythm games, songwriting challenges, Disney soundtracks, or pop and classical repertoire. By blending written and aural learning with creativity and play, he helps students grow into well-rounded musicians who not only develop strong technique but also find personal meaning and expression in music.

As a performer, Bryan brings a wide range of experience across instruments and genres. He plays piano, keyboard, acoustic guitar, percussion, and drum set, and has collaborated with a remarkable range of artists and ensembles, including Kenny Loggins, Andraé Crouch, Darlene Zschech, Israel Houghton, Nicole Nordeman, Glenn Packiam, Jared Anderson, Nathan Finochio, Ryan Hughes, Joel Bluestone, Tim Smith, Jerome Hines, Hillsong Music, the Oregon Symphony, and the Portland Opera, among others. His recording career includes contributions to more than 20 music projects, including 5 of his own, further reflecting his creativity and versatility as a musician.

His professional music journey has taken him to hundreds of venues worldwide—from neighborhood coffee shops and churches to iconic stages such as the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Central Park in NYC, the Moda Center Arena, the Portland Opera House, a 1,000-year-old cathedral in Zurich and a 2,000-year-old church in Philippi. His music has also carried him across 26 countries, including Mexico, Brunei, South Africa, India, Austria, New Zealand, Romania, Brazil, Nepal, Colombia, and Australia.

In addition to his teaching and performing, Bryan is a singer-songwriter and worship leader who has served in more than 100 Christian churches, spanning Lutheran, Presbyterian, Evangelical Free, Berean, Baptist, Advent, and Assembly of God traditions, as well as numerous non-denominational communities. His ministry and artistry often intertwine, creating spaces where music becomes more than performance—it becomes encounter, community, and mission.

At the heart of it all is Bryan’s dedication to people. Married for 18 years and a father of three children who are each exploring their own musical paths in high school, junior high, and elementary school, he understands both the joys and challenges of learning music at different stages of life. This perspective shapes his ability to connect with students, encourage them, and help them discover their unique musical gifts.

Whether working with beginners, mentoring advanced students, recording in the studio, or serving in churches around the world, Bryan remains passionate about one central goal: to help others fall in love with music. For him, music is not just a notes on a page or hours of practice philosophy—it is a lifelong journey of creativity, expression, ministry and joy.
