Piano Lessons with Joseph M.
Joseph is a dedicated music teacher based in the greater Cleveland area. He works with students of all ages—children, teens, and adults—offering lessons in piano, violin, trumpet, and other instruments. His goal is not only to teach technical skills but also to inspire a lifelong love of music. In addition to teaching, he serves as the worship team leader at Gateway Church Downtown, where he plays keyboard, leads rehearsals, and guides the congregation in worship each week.
As a performer, Joseph has played violin with community ensembles, most recently Symphony West Orchestra. He also performs at weddings, accompanies fellow musicians on piano, and brings his versatility to the stage as the keyboardist for the rock cover band Hero II, which plays classic and modern rock in local venues. His work with the band has given him valuable experience in different musical styles and music technology.
Since 2020, Joseph has also served as an adjudicator for the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs Junior Music Festivals, providing thoughtful feedback to young pianists to help them grow as musicians.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, graduating with honors from The Ohio State University in 2012. While there, he studied piano under Dr. Steven Glaser as his principal teacher, with additional instruction from Dr. Rina Shimizu-Grow and Dr. Ryan Behan. Outside of teaching and performing, Joseph enjoys taking in the arts at University Circle and especially loves hearing the Cleveland Orchestra in concert.
