Piano Lessons with Parker B.

Parker B. is a music teacher based out of the Chicago area and has an extensive background in band/orchestra instruments, music theory, and audio engineering. Parker’s primary instrument is piano, of which he’s been playing for over a decade, but he also has a great amount of experience in performing and teaching for brass, woodwind, string, and percussion instruments. His pedagogical approach begins with understanding the goals and desires of the student, then building a strong foundation of physical hand-eye coordination skills and mental knowledge of music theory. Most students will typically work out a book (recommendations are: Alfred’s Basic 1A and 1B for piano; Essential Elements for brass, woodwind, and percussion; Suzuki for strings), along with some online supplements (musictheory.net assignments), although some prefer more song-based approaches. Parker currently teaches at the School of Rock in Arlington Heights, as well as private lessons in the Chicagoland area. In the past he has been involved with a number of ensembles and groups, including the UIC premiere wind ensemble and string orchestra, his own fusion winds band ‘Phones & Bones’, and as a studio session musician.
