Pan Xiao, Piano
Pan Xiao, pianist, hails from Boulder, Colorado, and has been living in the Chicago area for the last 7 years. She has been playing the piano since age 8 and holds a Master of Music degree in piano performance from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music under the tutelage of Alan Chow and Boris Slutsky. Pan is also a graduate of Northwestern’s dual-degree program and holds two bachelor’s degrees—in piano performance and chemistry. Most recent performances and awards include the 2018-19 season of the Chamber Mondays Concert Series at the Chicago Cultural Center, the 2017 Farewell Trust Award from the Musician’s Club of Women, and the 2015 WFMT Bach Keyboard Festival.
Pan has a passion for piano pedagogy and has been trained to teach students young and adult at a variety of stages. She recently presented in the poster session at the 2017 Illinois State Music Teacher’s Association (ISMTA) conference on teaching the adult piano class. Pan also regularly collaborates with instrumentalists and vocalists and is currently on the Northwestern accompanying faculty. Outside of piano, she enjoys singing in choirs, playing tennis, and cuddling with her two kittens!
