Jonathan Moore,
Violin & Viola
Jonathan Moore has been studying viola and performing in a variety of orchestral, opera, chamber, and solo settings for over thirteen years. He is excited to be able to share the knowledge and experience he has gained over that time with students around the Chicago area.
He recently concluded his studies at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), where he earned his BM and MM under the instruction of Dr. Catharine Lees and Mr. Masao Kawasaki. In addition to his studio playing at the University, Jonathan gained additional experience at several summer music festivals, notably the Eastern Music Festival in North Carolina, the Bayview Chamber Music Festival in Michigan, and the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, where he received a New Horizons Fellowship in 2012. While in Cincinnati, Jonathan worked with the COR Music Project, helping teach a group of aspiring violinists, violists, and cellists in an after-school program at a local elementary school, as well as instructing some of the more committed students in private lessons. While at CCM he played for three years in the Advanced Viol Consort, specializing in performances of Renaissance and Baroque music.
Jonathan is active in multiple facets of classical music performance, ranging from solo and chamber performance to symphony orchestra and opera. He is joining the Civic Orchestra of Chicago this year. In the past, Jonathan has performed with the Johnson City and Kentucky symphony orchestras; played and sang in opera programs in Ohio and Alabama; gave solo and chamber performances in Ohio, Michigan, and North Carolina; and has performed the Stamitz Viola Concerto with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.
