Octavio M. is a Venezuelan-American cellist with an extensive background in performance and teaching. Recently awarded a Master's Degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Octavio has garnered numerous accolades including the Latin Grammy Foundation Scholarship, the Cervantes Talent Award, the Blair Scholarship, the Barron String Orchestral Scholarship, and Baroque Concerto Competition in SFCM and the William E. Duckwitz Talent Scholarship.
Octavio artistic journey includes solo performances with ensembles such as the SFCM Baroque Ensemble, Oregon Bach Festival Orchestra, the Simon Bolivar Orchestra of Tachira, the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Stetson University Chamber Orchestra. His development has been shaped by mentorship from renowned musicians including Ian Swensen, Shunske Sato, Jos van Heldhoven, Bonnie Hampton, William Molina Cestari and Julio Elizalde.
A versatile musician, Octavio has contributed to diverse projects and ensembles, including the National Children's Symphony of Venezuela, the Residents, Mercury Soul, Ensemble Affect, Barron String Quartet, Sonic Strings, and the Aurora String Quartet. His commitment to the cello is further reflected in his participation in masterclasses with eminent artists such as David Ying, Richard Aaron, William Skeen, Wendy Warner, Phillip Borter, Jérôme Hantaï, Khari Joyner, and Steven Isserlis.
