Cello & Piano Lessons with Andrew S.
Andrew received his bachelor’s degree in cello performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music in 2022 where he studied with Dr. Melissa Kraut. He received his master’s degree in cello performance at DePaul University with Brant Taylor in 2024. Andrew is also a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy where he studied with Crispin Campbell.
Andrew is currently a contracted member of both the Des Moines Symphony, which he joined in 2023, and the Illinois Symphony Orchestra which he joined in 2024. Andrew also performs regularly with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and has made appearances with several orchestras across the midwest including Northwest Indiana Symphony as a section player and Peoria Symphony Orchestra as guest principal.
Andrew maintains a private studio of cello and piano students and teaches at City Strings and Piano, Chicago. Andrew also teaches at the Merit School of Music and has taught in several public schools across the city through various outreach programs including CYSO and the DePaul Community Music Division. Before moving to Chicago, Andrew taught at the Cleveland School for the Performing Arts, a selective program that offers free, private music instruction to students in the Cleveland area from backgrounds that are historically underrepresented in classical music.
Andrew has attended many prestigious summer festivals including the National Repertory Orchestra, the Chautauqua Institution, where he served as principal for two consecutive seasons, and the Castleman Quartet Program.
In his free time, Andrew enjoys playing Contract Bridge, finding new outdoor places to explore, and drinking (lots of) espresso!”
