Piano Lessons with Eric G.
25-year-old classical pianist, jazz pianist, and improviser Jiawen “Eric” G. is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate at Boston university, where he studies with Prof. Boaz Sharon. He completed his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in piano performance at the New England Conservatory in Boston, where he studied with Prof. Hae Sun Paik, Prof. Rosenbaum, and Prof. Chodos. Jiawen has vast interests in all kinds of music and genres. He is the music director and pianist/organist at the First Congregational Church of Chelsea. Jiawen is also a composer and song writer, writing short pieces and songs in unique styles across different genres.
Jiawen studied as an undergraduate student at the New England Conservatory, studying with Gabriel Chodos, Victor Rosenbaum, and HaeSun Paik, and in 2021 was accepted to the Master of Music program at the same school, where he is finishing his master of music degree. Jiawen was the winner of the 2014 Peabody Winter Honors Concert, the 2014 Peabody Concerto competition, and was the 2016 IIYM semi-finalist, the 2015 MTNA National alternate, winner of the 2016 ACSI music piano competition, winner of the 2018 New England Conservatory Honors recital and the 2019 Atlantic Music Festival Piano competition, as well as the Silver prize winner of the April 2021 Musicale Romantic Style Music Festival competition in the 18-26 age category. He has been the recipient of the Dean's Scholarship at New England Conservatory throughout his studies. He recently performed Rachmaninoff’s Piano concerto No.2 for the masterclass of Alexander Kobrin at the Lancaster International Piano Festival, and have performed in several music festivals such as Bowdoin Festival, Atlantic Music Festival, Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival, Ian Hobson International Piano festival in Puerto Rico, and Lancaster International Piano Festival, and have just finished a concert tour in Puerto Rico. Jiawen is currently an organist/pianist at the First Congregational church of Chelsea, he has been the pianist for the Chapelgate Christian Academy choirs and church services throughout his high school time there. Jiawen has participated in many string trios and quartets at New England Conservatory, and as a bassist in CI African American Heritage Ensemble at NEC, and as played as a harpsichordist with baroque ensembles at New England Conservatory and Boston university.
